The Professionals Choice
Our very first blog, exciting! One question our customers are ALWAYS keen to know is what do we drive (convertibles obviously)… so a brief write up what the team here currently drive and wish to hopefully own in the not so distant future! Why not comment and tell us what you think of our personal convertibles and what you think we should own?
Steven the senior technician, currently cherishes a wonderful MK3 MX5 Mazda beautiful Stage 3 pearl paint. A significant step up in both interior and exterior built quality from the previous iterations. The vehicle is renowned for handling exceptionally well, thanks to excellent suspension and a limited slip differential powered by a fabulous 2000cc motor to boot. The roof mechanism is simple, yet functional. Just stay on top of those drainage system Steven suggests. He is due for a new soft top so if this is something you are interested in let us know and we can document this procedure. Steven loves the Mercedes SL R230/R231 convertibles with the hard top roof preferably with the classic V6 motor Mercedes do so well.
I, Charlie, currently own A B8.5 Audi S5 cabriolet. Now I have an awful reputation for chopping and changing my cars but I have a strong feeling this one is here to stay… Some highlights of the vehicle are superb cabin experience and quality (something I am very particular about), a beautiful 3000cc V6 supercharged engine that develops around 333BHP. The power delivery is fantastic. I am not personally a fan of turbo power delivery, smooth and linear just the way we like it! My wife also thoroughly enjoys the adaptable personality… leave it in D and cruise along or pop it into manual through the bends for an exillerating GT style experience, she prefers the easier going mode unfortunately. In the future I would very much like to experience a TVR Chimaera, I am a big fan of the original Sierra Cosworth box married with the Rover V8 that sounds utterly tremendous! Perhaps a beautiful older Bentley with a walnut veneer trim and cream/tan leather to suit (maybe I need to grow up a little).
Glenn, the office manager currently doesn’t own a convertible. He has been with us for 18 months now and has seen many wonderful examples come through the door. He would love a MK2 Audi TT perhaps with the excellent 2.0 TFSI engine, or even a 350z/370z torque monster with the legendary DE/HR lump that so many car enthusiasts adore. Any other suggestions would be welcome, he is very hopeful to pick one up for the excellent summer of 2025 we are certainly due, right?
